It all started with a decision to stop waiting
I finished my master’s degree in 2022. On paper, everything was set: I was supposed to become a professor and step into a predictable, comfortable life in Norway. But after pouring myself into my thesis, I realised something important—spending my life writing academic papers wasn’t what lit me up. Instead, a different dream started to grow: living on a sailboat, travelling the world, experiencing new cultures and wild nature, and growing into the bravest version of myself.
So I did something that terrified and excited me at the same time: I sold almost everything I owned. My biggest possession was a VW Beetle I had always dreamt of owning—and even that had to go. With just a backpack, I headed out for a year: Southeast Asia in the winter and spring, then Portugal in the fall of 2023. I decided to try my hand at travel blogging and see where the road would lead. That year changed me completely. It was the best year of my life so far, and I’m deeply grateful for every challenge, every connection, and every moment of freedom it gave me.
During that year, I tried to become a travel blogger, but I struggled. I wanted to write about everywhere, for everyone, and it quickly became overwhelming. Without a clear focus, I lost my motivation. I took a job at a call centre in Spain to support myself while I figured things out. That’s when I realised something else about myself: I genuinely missed my family, my friends, and the safety and stability of Norway’s welfare system. Moving back home wasn’t a failure—it was another step on the journey. I started working with foreign claims at an insurance company, helping people when things go wrong on the road. Now I have both emotional and financial stability, and the freedom to travel in a way that actually supports the life I want.
Today, I’m here for women like you—women with full-time jobs who feel that pull to explore the world alone but don’t know where to start. Maybe you’re scared, maybe you feel selfish, or maybe you worry you’re “too old” or “too settled” to just go. I’ve been there. I’m not here as someone who has it all perfectly figured out—I’m here as someone who chose to start anyway. I want to show you that you don’t have to quit your job, burn everything down, or wait for the “perfect moment” to travel solo. You can build a life where you feel safe, supported, and still get on that plane.
You are capable of so much more than you think. You’ve got this—and you don’t have to do it alone.
With love and courage,
Susanne
